Lighthouse Blinds & Shutters is owned and operated by myself, Karen Avne, and my husband, Adam Avne. We started our business in 2004 while living in California. We relocated to the Knoxville, TN area in December of 2022 and quickly realized there was a need for the products and services that we offered in California. Moreover, our now grown children desired to join the business truly making it family owned.
It all started more than three decades ago. I began my career by transforming spaces with design. Optimizing a space with custom cabinetry and space planning ultimately lead to me discovering my passion for window treatments. I loved discovering how the right window treatment could transform a space with light control and function. Soon after Adam joined me and we continue to own and operated the business today, along with our son, Joshua, and our daughter, Camryn.

Meet our Designer – Karen Avne
Karen’s love of interior design started in 1985 when she joined a design studio that worked with clients to bring the vision of their newly built homes to life. Taking a detailed and customized approach to interior design, each home was thoughtfully curated to represent the homeowner's unique style and aesthetic. Over the years, Karen developed a deeper appreciation for the importance of creating spaces that seamlessly blended functionality and beauty.
I am committed to listening and working together. I consider it a privilege to be invited into your home.
As the owner and lead designer, she honed her skills ultimately focused on window covering. Whether one window or an entire house the form and function of a particular product needs to be considered. Privacy, energy efficiency and light control are some of the areas that need to be addressed. Karen thrives at collaborating with her clients to find the perfect solution because she truly believes this is what allows us to love our homes and focus on what matters most.
